Wine Before Breakfast
Wine Before Breakfast is an early morning worship and Eucharistic community that meets Wednesday mornings at 7:00 a.m. in the Interfaith Chapel in SUB (0-11). Through music, preaching, prayers and the Eucharist, we seek to be shaped by Jesus Christ and his story. Wine Before Breakfast begins on Wednesday, September 7. Wine Before Breakfast is sponsored by the Christian Reformed Campus Ministry.
Great Prayers of the Old Testament
Prayer is an essential part of the Christian life. It’s the human initiated reach toward Holy Mystery and Holy Ultimacy. In our prayers we acknowledge as individuals and communities that we stand in response to the One who is both present and illusive, yet the One who will be addressed. This fall we are going to reflect on some of the great prayers found in Israel’s scriptures. Through our study we hope to discover more about ourselves, about prayer, and about this God who hears and speaks. We will meet every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. for lunch and Bible Study. We’ll begin on Tuesday, September 13. This Bible study is sponsored by the Christian Reformed Campus Ministry.
Reel Spirituality: Faith and Film in Dialogue
With thousands of films being produced each year, and vast crowds rushing to see them, there can be little doubt that films continually capture our imaginations and shape our culture. Reel Spirituality is an attempt to theologically engage films in the hopes of developing some Christian wisdom toward them. Together we’ll watch some popular (and occasionally not so popular) films and discuss them. Reel Spirituality meets at 6:00 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month in the HUB Chaplains’ office (169 HUB). Everyone is welcome. Reel Spirituality is sponsored by the Christian Reformed Campus Ministry. We’ll watch our first film on Monday, September 12.
Graduate Christian Fellowship: Faith Seeking Understanding
GCF explores how to integrate our faith with our academic and professional lives. Together we seek to encourage each other toward radical Christian discipleship. GCF is open to grad, post-grad and non-traditional students. GCF meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. We’ll begin with dinner at 5:30 p.m. and then something after dinner at around 6:15 p.m. GCF is sponsored by the Christian Reformed and Presbyterian Reformed Campus Ministries.
“The Hobbit” Book Study
Join us Mondays at 12:00 p.m. in the HUB Chaplains’ Office (169HUB) for a study of J.R.R. Tolkien’s great children’s classic “The Hobbit.” Bring your lunch and your book with you.
